Ston
Day 16
32 km cycling Zuljana to Mail Ston, 600m acsent
3km walking around Ston
A really hot day, but we were on the road nice and early, 8.15. A steep climb out of the village with some shade, on the way and a few breaks, up to high point of 350m. Mainly a plateau, then a nice ride down to Son, there by 11am. This is from the fort looking at the walls built to defend the city in 1300s. It’s a big salt producing place, so maybe this was what the marauders were after. There wasn’t that much to see, but you could walk the 5km of walls, we chose not too. We went over to Mail Stron, the other end of the walls, and checked I to our hotel, nice and traditional. After washing, yes everyday hand washing all the cycling gear, getting it dry for the next day.
After a rest, we looked around this end of the wall, but the tower was closed for renovations. We had a swim, not such a nice place to sit though. Early dinner, we were really hungry was at the best restaurant on the Adriatic, apparently, and yes it was very tasty. Managed to stay up till 21.40!
