No walking!
Well, today almost killed me. It started out well, straight on to the fast ferry, nice trip to Orebic. Struggled to find anything for breakfast, then we’re a bit late setting off, already about 33 deg at 11am. First hill out of town ok, we decided to go on the more coastal route with possibly some gravel roads, really big mistake. There wer at least 7km of steeep loose gravel rocky roads. I could hardly even push the bike up. I was out of breath and exhausted even at rest. Eventually reached the tarmac at 380m above sea level, and had some great downhills, even though it felt like cycling through an oven!
Got a rest and lots more fluids at a little Trstenic, about 9km before Zuljana where we were staying. Couldn’t find our room when we got there, so had a drink at a really nice beach bar, then rang the host. I had been standing outside it one, but it wasn’t really signed well. It was certainly the roughest place we stayed, but the AC worked and the sheets and towels were clean. Went back to the beach bar for dinner, and had a swim as the sun went down.
