Anatomy At The Museum

The new exhibition at the Chambers Street Museum is about the development of the study of anatomy and anatomists. A large section in the exhibition focusses on the procurement of bodies for dissection and demonstration, which led, naturally, to the activities of well-known local residents Burke and Hare.

Opening with drawings by Leonardo da Vinci, there is a lot of interesting written work as letters, reports and so on besides illustrations of human bodies in various stages of dissection and anatomists at work, so I would consider this one is not for children.

Photographs were not permitted as 'some of the exhibits are from private sources and have not given permission', although such items as the miniature coffins come from display in the museum - and have been blipped already - so I resort to giving you the flier, which tells you that the exhibition runs until the 30th of October, booking through nms.ac.uk/anatomy.
