The Blessing and Price of Freedom

Happy Fourth of July, fellow Americans. This year, as lives are lost daily in Ukraine, where those folks are bravely trying to preserve their country, we should be especially grateful to those who fought to ensure our freedoms. I know I am. The meal, company and fireworks were fantastic last night. My sister’s neighbors go all out. They have a parade, decorate their property and party all weekend in respect for the red, white and blue. My sister and BIL showered me with such thoughtful birthday gifts. They found the neatest stained glass lamp for my bedroom. Among other gifts, was a soft and comfy house dress. I am such an old woman, preferring house dresses to pants and shirts when I am inside. This one reminds me of a Monet painting- beautiful. We have had a very quiet day and plan to continue celebrating with dinner at Kristen’s this evening. She is preparing a typical holiday menu: BBQ ribs, potato salad, corn on the cob and baked beans. My sister and BIL will join us. Someone did fireworks in her neighborhood last night so it should be a quiet evening. The helicopter landed across her street and transported two vehicle accident victims to a trauma center. Hope folks will drive safer today. We just heard of another mass shooting in Illinois during a parade. And I guess there was a terrible attack in Denmark? God help our world. Let there be peace on Earth…. Keep vigilant and stay safe folks. Thanks for stopping by. I am humbled with your kind words and gifts for my swallowtail. “The price of freedom may be high, but never so costly as the loss of freedom.” -Ronald Reagan
