After The Storm

Mancil had to go to work at 8:00 am but Kim had promised Lauren she’d watch River starting at 7:15. The solution? Drop the boy here and Gram would give him a ride. He helps a landscaper who lives not far from us. I was glad to be up and ready to do laundry and spruce up the kitchen. Then I enjoyed the early morning and my coffee in the gazebo. Hubby had to go to a court case for two men who stole money/checks from our church building. He saw the men in the sanctuary the day the items were stolen. Thankfully, his testimony was not needed. The men were repeat offenders including breaking into our pastor’s home with him there so I hope they receive a bit of jail time. It was a cloudy day. Hubby changed my van’s oil and rotated the tires. For hours, I pruned the shrubs in a garden at the edge of our property until the sweat would not stay out of my eyes. It looks so much better and is one more big job I can cross off the list. Hubby discarded the clippings for me. Success. We had lunch after my shower and it was nap time which did not last long. We had a glorious rain and thunderstorm. I went outside blip hunting afterwards and snapped a few pictures of the rain kissed vinca by Our Lady’s grotto. They are very delicate blossoms and they have done well in that location this year. While looking for a quote, I discovered vinca is in the periwinkle family. The shape of the flowers should have clued me in ages ago. My sister took our mother to the podiatrist appointment for us. Poor woman, the appointment had been canceled and they had to wait hours for our mother to get worked in. Thankfully, our nephew had rescheduled his visit to Thursday. They were in the storm at its worst. Hopefully, tomorrow’s appointment will go smoother. Dinner is all cooked thanks to Kristen’s leftovers from our fun picnic. We’ll have loads of Kindle time. Thanks for stopping by, leaving the hearts, stars and kind comments. I cannot fathom what it must be like in Ukraine and feel guilty that my life is so joy-filled. Prayers and donations seem so minuscule in terms of doing my part. Be safe folks. “The tiny little droplets of rain on petals of periwinkle are just like your tears of happiness during your success which has its own self sustained shine.” - Astha Gupta
