Colours in Compost
This morning I was out in the garden by 7:30 to pick salad greens then decided to do the deadheading that I didn't get to on Friday. We had rain overnight and I checked to make sure that I didn't need to water the raised beds. Good thing I didn't start watering because about an hour later the rain started again, and it been absolutely pouring all day. The mist has moved in now too - and G has lit the wood stove! On July 3! In the afternoon! We've had the fire on in June in past years but never in July.
G went golfing early and arrived home less than 3 hours later completely soaked after playing three holes. Not golfing weather for sure.
Lots of colour in the compost pail after I deadheaded, and it was good to get an early photo outside.
Extra: yesterday the junco parent left the nest, and G gently parted the thyme leaves so I could get a very quick photo. Hard to get the eggs in focus but I wanted to document them. If I'd been thinking, I would have used the iPhone because I think I could have managed a better close up with it.
