Plant hunter's fair
My mum would have been 96 today. She was always pleased that she was the same age as the queen (not as wealthy though).
A friend of mine phoned me up a couple of days ago. She was taking a service in an Oswestry church and the organist had been in close contact with someone with who has Covid so didn't want to risk spreading it. Could I play for the service? Of course I said "Yes" and did it this morning.
I was given the choice of playing a grand piano or the organ so chose the piano which was beautiful to play. (Unknown organs need prior practice I find). I was introduced as her husband's cousin and she did her usual amusing and slightly whacky service. She's always most enjoyable to listen to!
Afterwards she gave me some beautiful roses for helping out and then we went for refreshments before going home. Everyone was very friendly which was lovely.
This afternoon I went to the Plant Hunter's Fair in the castle grounds. There were a lot of stalls from specialist plant nurseries selling many different types of plant.
I didn't buy anything for once, my garden is packed with flower and veg plants already and there are no gaps to put anything as it's a small garden. Also they were very expensive. As I was looking, a lady said that she'd have a certain plant. The stall holder said "The price is on the back". She audibly gasped and said that she'd have it anyway and said to her partner "I'm not telling you how much it costs!"
