Victoriana
The Dalrymple Hall is adjacent to The Warld's End which featured in yesterday's Blip and can be seen on the right.
The Dalrymple Hall perfectly embodies the spirit of Victorian confidence during a boom period for the fishing industry which is very evident in the town.
The Hall was built using a bequest by Captain John Dalrymple and was at first called the Cafe Hall - it was a social centre housing a dining room, library, museum and newsroom, school of art, public hall, recreation rooms and .baths, The local Court sat there once a month.
Captain Dalrymple and his contemporaries who enjoyed this eclectic range of facilities could hardly have envisaged that in the 21st century the building would house a vaccination centre. Aside from this it is now the local arts centre.
