The Warld's End
One of the oldest buildings in Fraserburgh Warld's End overlooks the harbour, it was built right on the edge of the harbour - the land in front having been reclaimed from the sea in the 19th century. Warld's End was originally the town house of the Jacobite commander John Gordon of Glebuchet. Following the defeat of the Jacobites and the terrible aftermath of Culloden many Jacobites made their escape to Norway from here. Thus the house was the last of Scotland that they saw - the end of their world.
After being seized by the Crown Warld's End lay unoccupied until it was sold at auction in 1766. It was bought by Charles Gordon of Glenbuchat, a descendant of John Gordon. A year later Charles had the house rebuilt in the contemporary Georgian style.
