Not Giant Rhubarb

Firstly an apology to those people that wasted time looking for a little frog in yesterday's photo. I did spend sometime today looking in our pond to see if I could find a little frog. We did see some small frogs in the pond but they are hiding today.

So this is Gunnera coming back to life. It is also known as Giant Rhubarb, but it is not related. The plant can be invasive and Gunnera tinctoria threatened wild plants in parts of Harris in the Western Isles after growing out of control.

I think the plant looks primeval, especially as it unfurls.
