Ramnahol

Ramnahol means 'Pool of the Ravens' in Norn, the old Norse language. The waterfall is easily found from the Aith Road in the West Mainland. The walk is along the Burn of Lunklet.

This morning G and I left Cameraman in the holiday house. He's twisted his knee and he didn't want to walk over fields. G and I went out to the Temple of Stanydale (first extra) a neolithic structure built 4,000 - 5,000 years ago. It's an easy walk through a field of bog cotton, buttercups, thyme and other wildflowers.

Seeking coffee we were delighted to find the Cake Fridge (second extra) and enjoyed a wee stop there. We then walked up the Burn of Lunklet to the waterfall.

Unfortunately the weather has deteriorated this afternoon so we have returned to the very comfortable house to regroup and decide what's next on the agenda.

There is a big cruise ship berthed in Lerwick today so there will be lots of visitors touring round and supporting the Shetland economy. I think I'll wait a while before I venture out to anywhere busy though.
