Not the Priory

We came to Great Malvern a number of years ago as a birthday present for me - to go to a concert given by the pianist Angela Hewett. It was wonderful .

Then we stayed in a rather nice hotel in the town and went walking out in the Malvern Hills. Today we are in a Premier Inn on a Business Park just outside the town (cheap). An overnight stop on our way to Cornwall.

We were going to find St Ann’s Well, but it is a steep climb and we feared it might be closed; we were going to see ‘some of the finest medieval stained glass in the country’, but the Priory was closed. So this is a tiny gravestone with a sad story about Darwin’s daughter (see extra). You can see a little of the hills and also one of the gas lamps that the town is known for and which may have inspired C.S. Lewis.

However, we found by chance a great little Italian restaurant tucked away in a side street. Good thing we were early as they were booked up for the evening. Great food.
