Good News-Bad News

Bad news first: Roe vs. Wade was overturned by the US Supreme Court today. Never in my lifetime did I ever expect this to happen. This conservative majority court is hinting that rights to contraception and gay marriage will be next on the chopping block. It’s all very upsetting • Now for the Good news: new gun safety legislation has passed both the Senate and House and is now headed to the President. It doesn’t include everything we wanted but it will strengthen current gun laws. Unlike the bad news, it IS a step forward • A warm sunny day. Perfect for watering the garden, planting a couple of flowers purchased yesterday, and watching this male downy woodpecker circle the base of this tree. I first heard the tap-tap-tapping before spotting him. He was rewarded for his hard work capturing an insect in his beak but the photo was fuzzy • Happy Weekend to you!
