The Colour Monster!

The Colour Monster is a book by Anna Llenas and is one I enjoy doing with my class each year. It's the story of a little colour monster who is struggling with all his feelings being jumbled up. He's red, green, yellow, blue, pink and black...that's angry, calm, happy, sad, loved and fearful...all at the same time. This makes him a multicoloured monster!

Luckily, help is at hand and the colour monster learns to make sense of all his different feelings and emotions by labelling them in different jars.

It's a really simple book but it's brought out some strong emotions this week. One little boy is blue because his Mummy died at the end of last year and he's also red because he hates cancer. Another girl is confused about if she'll ever be allowed to see her Mum again...whilst another little boy is blue because he has to go to live with a new family and he'll have to leave his foster home, and school, behind.

However, we also had happier emotions to share like boy who was pink because his puppy licks his face and the little girl who was green when she had a bath bomb spa night!
