Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 237
23rd April - St George's Day - also reputed to be the day that William Shakespeare was born and certainly the day he died in 1616.
This is the nearest I could find to St George on the promenade. It is a motif on one of the amusement arcades near the Figgate Burn. It is a source of amusement to me that the English Patron Saint is a purely mythical figure unlike his UK constituent counterparts!
The sunshine and spectacular cloud formations across the Forth early this morning have given way to wind and rain. I knew that things were looking dodgy, meterologically, when BBC Radio 4 announced this morning that the weather everywhere was going to be warm and sunny! Perhaps that was an Englishcentric St George's Day forecast and not a UK wide one!
