Whale Watching?

After four days at sea, we arrived in the Iceland port of Akureyri this morning.  I was rather disheartened to wake up to the all-too-familiar sound of the ship's fog horn, and worried that our whale watching expedition might be canceled, but we needn't have worried -- it went ahead as planned.

Unfortunately we didn't see any whales, despite our diligent staring efforts, but we saw plenty of our fellow cetacean seekers!  (We also spotted a few harbour porpoises and a lot of Arctic terns.)

Extra:  A rather beautiful if grim-looking (from a weather perspective) scene.  We were very lucky to actually see some sunshine about half way through the expedition when it shone down from beautiful blue skies for about half an hour!
