Dodging The Storm
I was back in the air today and headed for Denver. We are due to land late afternoon which is the peak time for storms over Denver - an almost daily occurrence this time of year. It was a very bumpy ride at the end of the flight and the airport had slowed down arrivals because of the wind so we circled for awhile. Then we tried to go in but ended up ascending again, and circled to approach on a different runway because of that wind. All part of the excitement of aviation! The landing itself was perfect and smooth and the passengers (and crew!) were very happy about the skill of our amazing pilots!
This snap was taken while in the van on the way to the hotel. There were still lots of stormy clouds around but you can just see the Rockies on the horizon. I love the way the sun is streaming through the clouds. It was HOT in Denver today. 37C (99F) for the high.
See the extra photos for some beautiful views from my ‘office window’. The first one was Greenland. The collage was from various spots over northern Canada - WAY north! The last one is the screen shot of our circuitous route in the last half hour or so of our flight before landing in Denver. We never quite know what the day will bring when we take off hours before!
