Walking Day is back!
Saturday 18th June 2022
The village was out in force today for our annual Walking Day celebration. It started in the 1860s and, apart from the war years, there are only a handful of times when it had to be cancelled. 2020/21 will go down in Walking Day history as another casualty of the Pandemic. But today everyone was out. We had approx 205 adults and 420 children in the church for the short service. Then the procession formed outside and we were off. The weather was perfect - not too hot, not too windy for the banners (although a bit) and no rain. After the procession the groups go to their own headquarters/schools or our church hall, for a children's tea. All went off without any difficulty. Now we have finished but the village continue to celebrate with BBQs and, of course, the Fair.
Now I have finished and just need to sort myself out.
