Marking the Passage
Bella has attended the same school since kindergarten (including a year and a half online during the first phase of the pandemic), but next year she'll be in middle school (grades 6, 7, and 8 or generally ages 11, 12, and 13). The girls will begin to have periods and grow breasts; the boys' voices will begin to crack. Everything will change in ways it hasn't done in these five years.
There was a wonderful ceremony, a lovely speech (in both Spanish and English), and a great many balloons, flowers, cards, and whoopee. I loved the moment when all the mothers surged forward with their camera phones raised in the air.
After the ceremony we went out for Boba Tea and pastries, and Bella was able to remove her mask (Extra).
