Stewart

Whenever I’ve played the who’s the most famous person you’ve met game my best citation is Jackie Stewart which is lost on most as not exactly recent!
When I was young we use to holiday at his house in Geneva as he’s a family friend. So was a great honour to be invited to the first showing of his the new film of his life, Stewart, at The new sumptuous Everyman cinema in town. Made by his son Mark, curating hours and hours of footage over his racing career and focussing on his family life as well. This was in aid of his latest cause Race for Dementia, suffered by wife Helen who was watching the film tonight for the first time too. Incredible film and very evocative of the 60s and 70s golden era of motor racing which was basically being strapped to a bomb and thrown round the track. The crashes were horrendous and most often fatal, Jochen Rindt and Francois Cevert most striking and sad and the personal backstory deserved to be retold.
Not out on general release but would recommend to everyone to see when it does.
Reunited the three family siblings to support my dad there and this moment was caught , fifty years since our last holiday with Jackie. Funny in the film the pool we swam in, the toys cars we scooted around in and a wee moment of my dad jumping in as Jackie’s navigator way back when before Jackie was in F1.
Great night in the build up to the weekend at Thirlestane Castle.
