A new method
Up to now village men dig the wells, build the bricks and make the concrete cover. When the pump is installed they never visit the well again. (We train the women to maintain the pump, because that's women's work!!)
With wells getting deeper and cement getting more expensive, we had a new look at the process and will drill the deeper wells.
This is a sludge drill, where we drop a heavy metal pipe with a drill bit, down the hole filled with water and one of our pump valves, modified, and each time the drill is dropped the water spurts out, as you can see, with the crushed rock particles, sand or mud.
This drilling is about 15 metres deep and still going
