Mountain lakes

As the temperature was due to be above 30 degrees today, we decided to drive up above Font Romeu to the lakes at 2,000 metres. This meant we lost 5 degrees of heat and walked in the shade of the forest up to the lakes. It was a beautiful walk but having completed most of it, we arrived at an impassable ford and had to retrace our steps. This meant that we ended up doing 20 kilometres and 660 metres of ascent so we were all tired at the end. We had to rush back home as we had been invited out for dinner. Fortunately our guests were very understanding when we arrived rather late.
