Along the Riverbank
After what felt like a bitty, rather unproductive day, an invite to walk the dogs was just what I needed. A game changer.
I did deal with the remains of the baby gull that didn't cling to the roof in the weekend winds - who knew so many maggots could hatch so fast? A bit of weeding - the really big ones that I should have dealt with before! Rescued five seeds spilt from the capsule of a special narcissus - my trusty tweezers came in useful again. Fixed an internet problem and booked a short break for around Ruth's Birthday. Also minded Bella while Jamie and Tim went to Aberystwyth to look at Motability cars and at Tywyn hospital while Jamie was having physio this afternoon.
Bitty! None of it on my 'fun things to do list' but now I review the day, I guess it was productive :-) I'd just decided that a nap was an option when the invite arrived but once out in the fresh air with C and the Megs my headache was soon forgotten. Fresh air, sunshine, good company - a great recipe for contentment. Eventually we just sat by a stream which feeds into the Dysynni while the dogs paddled and mooched around. Retracing our tracks, a call came in from a hungry Jamie. I had offered to cook his tea but lost track of time .... realising where we were, he quickly offered to cook mine! How lucky am I?
Pasta, chicken and creamy tomato sauce - note to self, wear a bib when eating brightly coloured sauces!! (The stains came out as I soaked the shirt immediately.) There was also a delicious lemon torte that he'd made for afters. Home after delivering some torte to C and to my brother Chris to watch another episode of Death in Paradise remotely with Ruth.
It's good to write this journal. It makes me realise how much I have to be grateful for. So it's thanks to Ruth, Jamie and C for helping make it a very good day.
