Cheers!

Since it's so hot and also we haven't seen much of each other for the last week, as S was in the UK till Saturday afternoon, we decided to go out for tapas this evening. Monday is not a great day to be looking for an evening out in the Corbières, but after eliminating a number of places that are closed on Monday, I remembered that T had told me a few weeks ago that the ice cream kiosk by the river in Lagrasse does plates of tapas in the evenings.

Indeed it does, and what a good choice! Lagrasse of course was dead on a Monday evening, but this is a nice quiet location with no traffic, and there were half a dozen people already seated at the tables on the riverside terrace enjoying the relative cool (26C) of early evening. For 10 euros we had a generous and varied plate of small tapas (blip), and bought a bottle of excellent local rosé to go with it (no we didn't drink all of it as I had to drive home, but we are finishing it now). And of course excellent ice cream to finish. A good find for when you are not massively hungry.

Immediately before this I had gone to the village social club's trial keep-fit class. I was not optimistic ... it was 33C! But we did it in the amphitheatre, which was in the shade by then, and all of us are in an equal state of decrepitude, so it wasn't embarrassing if you couldn't do some things or collapsed in a floundering heap after some exercises. Jean-François, our teacher, is an ex basketball trainer but he definitely had the measure of seven oldish ladies and adapted his programme accordingly. I'll go again, I need to keep up the fitness regime!
