Singing His Heart Out

Today was the first day of our South Texas photography adventure.  We flew into McAllen Texas where the airport is about 20 blocks from the Mexican border.  The Santa Clara Ranch where we are staying is about 30 miles from the border.  Our first morning out shooting brought us many raptors and this handsome little Painted Bunting.  He isn't as handsome as he will be when he matures but he is still quite lovely.  

It is hot, around 100 degrees, so we go out in the early mornings and late afternoon when it is more tolerable.
