Tucked in and out of sight.
Three red-bellied woodpeckers put on quite a show this afternoon. They chased, dove, squawked, really going at it. I'm not sure if it was a territory thing or 2 males fighting over a female. This one swooped in and hid in the crevice at the top of this tree. It's hollow at the top and I don't know if it's a nest sight or just a good hiding spot, but there was definitely lots of interest in the old tree. (How amazing it would be to have a red-bellied's nest to watch this spring?!)
He can be seen better in large.
Not feeling great today and trying to catch-up on housework now that we are back. (Does it multiply when you are out of town??) It is going very slowly... not sure you could even call it progress. :-|
Thanks again for all of the comments and nice ratings while I was away and wasn't able to comment much myself. I'll get back in the swing of things shortly.
