Duckweed heading for world domination

Backblip for Friday. I spent Friday at the Battleby offices of Scottish Natural Heritage, north of Perth, representing my organisation at the National Species Reintroduction Forum. On account of the fabulous Spring weather, I took a birl around the wooded estate grounds at lunchtime with a friend, DD, who works there, for a chat and a bit of fresh air. This was the pond on the grounds, taken from a wee wooden bridge that crosses it. Even this early in the year, a potential covering by duckweed looks to be on the cards. You can see the spread of its tiny green floating leaves already.
