Stood or Stand?

I was surprised to see this incorrect use of English grammar at the hospital this afternoon. Our language is changing rapidly and in my old fashioned opinion for the worse! In this particular example the word “stood” could have been completely “stood down” and the message would be just as effective!

In England medical staff no longer have to wear masks and nor do any patients. However, our local GP surgery still I insists on masks for all.

I also wondered how, and who, is going to remove all these ‘keep your distance’stickers or will they eventually just be trampled into oblivion. If only we could also do that to Covid!
