To The Woods
I had a good day today. (I think)
A sneaky two day break at the caravan, in Wales. Amongst the trees.
It was quiet, so so quiet.
No chainsaws or strimmers. No angle grinders or nail guns.
No skip lorries crashing into things, no jabbering idiots yelling at each other in foreign tongues.
No imbeciles racing around the streets in cars with loud exhausts.
The neighbourhood watch WhatsApp group back home reports today a mass brawl in the village high street. 30 youths kicking hell out of each other. Human race or Planet of The Apes, you decide.
None of that in the woods. Just the wind in the treetops. And birdsong.
I took photos of trees and bugs. Surprising really, if you lie down in the long grass, or moss and leaf litter, they come to you.
My main blip is a picture of trees, that's all. But I like it.
The extra shows one shot of a flying beetle that landed on my hand, and stayed for five minutes. I enjoyed it's trust.
The two other images show a monstrous buzzing flying thing that came in through the caravan window and hit me in the eye. Really!
I yelped, leapt three feet in the air and said some things that I instantly regretted. After all, the windows were open...
It seemed to me to be a Hornet, but it was massive (over 3cm long) and the noise it made was like an attack helicopter. It landed for a while and I got a couple of quick shots with phone camera. Then I stood to one side and showed it the door...
I didn't need to go to waspital, but it was a close thing..
In other news, there are rumours of a giant butterfly terrorising the city streets..
I think it's just an urban moth...
Back to the madhouse tomorrow, can't wait...
