Marsh Marigold
The marsh marigolds on the edge of our pond have finally flowered. They give a real splash of colour to the edge of the pond. The water is really brown at the moment. I did have some Elodea Crispa in to oxygenate the water - in fact, there was so much it was choking the pond. I cleared some out over the winter, leaving lots in, but it has all disappeared without a trace! Maybe the cold killed it. The good thing is that it will give me a chance to get some British oxygenators in - they will be less vigorous and shouldn't choke the pond.
Colour is also appearing around the garden - it is always at it's most colourful in spring and things are just starting to happen. We're still waiting on the bluebells and rhododendron and the apple tree is only just beginning to come into leaf, but everything is starting!
The weather is not so good today, cloudy and it's now raining. I managed to rake some of the dead moss out of the patchy lawn this morning and spread some more grass seed. The lawn has begun to recover since putting the lawnsand down over the winter, but still has a way to go.
