a poppy about to pop

I find it so interesting that the delicate bright orange poppy that grows along the road on my daily walk starts out looking like a weaponized thistle.
I think this is true of some people too. The ones that seem prickly and unapproachable are often hiding a very beautiful and vulnerable soul.
