Salvia flowers

A gardener friend gave me 2 salvia plants this year and I put this one by my plot sign. I love seeing flowers by a plot sign, it's just a "picture perfect allotment" scene for me!

I didn't know what cultivar it was at the time but I've now looked it up and it looks like it might be Salvia microphylla.

I really love salvia but I used to think they were plants for dry weather and I now realise they need quite a lot of rain to get started. This one didn't flower until the wet weather last month.
