Cadair Idris
There were so many pictures to choose from today but I think this one encapsulates the joy of running up a mountain!
Ali, Eva and I left a sunny Shrewsbury to head to a very mixed Cadair Idris for a mountain run. My gosh, what a day. We had all weathers: from lovely sunshine, to wind, to rain, to dramatic clouds, to hail. There’s something utterly mesmerising about watching the weather change within minutes when you’re up on a mountain. Pure grinning the entire way up, despite how brutal the climb was (we went a long route starting from Llanfihangel-y-pennant). The top was so cold and drizzly that we could only stop for a quick picture before heading down again.
The descent was glorious! Just steep enough to make it fun but not too steep to make it un-runnable. By this time our feet were so wet that we just splashed through all the puddles and streams. I shouted to Ali: ‘is this the best bit of running of your entire life?’. ‘YES!’. It really was.
We found a lovely pub for the delicious reward of a pint of Welsh ale and a substantial amount of food.
Such a great day!
