We had a late-ish start today, which gave me time to catch up on some blipping and arguably, more importantly get a picnic together.

Having dropped The Eldest (still clutching the Harry Styles LP) off at her Ulverston residence in time for her shift at the café, the wee ones and I moved on to Bardsea and went for a wander across the mud flats. The two of them challenging each other to leap across wider and wider gaps. I wandered on, fully expecting to hear a yelp followed by a splash and all rounded off with “Daaaaaaad…”, but it never came and they actually played nicely together.

Walking round to a point on the beach, I looked back and failing to see another human being, decided to capture the moment*. It was a tiny slice of heaven.

We had a car picnic after which we drove to Grange for a kickabout and Matty continued her excellent form in the net – we call her “The Wall” – and then we headed back along the prom to the car. M’boy got his hair cut and looked very sharp and handsome.

The evening was given over to The Eldest’s birthday request which was pizzas and cookies in front of Avengers Assemble, which was lovely – even though she fell asleep at the end of it.

I continued the slump in front of the TV to watch a dominant Liverpool somehow lose the Champions League final, however it was to Real Madrid, who have now won 14 of these things, so I think it’s fair to say that they know what they’re doing!
