The Eldest turned seventeen today.
Despite being at school for most of it, I think she had a good day. It started well with a gift from her mother being a trip to see Harry Styles doing some warbling in a couple of weeks.
She also did pretty well elsewhere with the gift of driving lessons from my parents and the incentive of some cash I’d been saving for her to put towards a car (assuming she sticks with the lessons). She had also requested Mr Styles’ latest album on vinyl, which she excitedly opened alongside her book and chocolates from the wee ones.
Apparently, her braces are coming off soon too, so it was safe to say that The Eldest was in a very good mood today!
Like any teenager, she has her moments, so it was really nice to see her so happy and smiley today. For one reason or another, she’s had a rough time these last few years and has worked hard to bring herself through it all, so it is nice to see her in such a good place.
The cricket season is upon us, which means the return of Friday nights down at Netherfield Cricket Club (see extra) for the wee ones. It’s great, because they run off to play cricket and I get to sit down with a beer and ease into the weekend, there was also a guest appearance from my former father-in-law which gave us a chance to catch up.
It has been a rather lovely transition from end of week to start of weekend!
