Mary and Molly

The weather was foul when we left our wild camp stop at Long Mynd off the single track road a few miles from Church Stretton. We had to negotiate our way back down the steep road with the scary drops on my side. Luckily we did not meet anything.

We made good time and reached our lunch date at 12.30 in Sabden, near Pendle Hill in Lancs. Mary is the widow of one of my oldest friends. Bill and I were in the same class at high school and went to the same Uni. Then they lived in Peterborough when we lived near Stamford so we kept in touch. It was nice to see her but it’s going to be down to us to make the effort as she says she’s only driving locally and gets the train to Glasgow now.

Mr C agreed to come home via Hexham so that I could have a splurge in Waitrose. He did however come into the shop with me to keep an eye on things.

It is after 7pm and we have a further hour’s drive to get home. A long day.

Not good news from #3 daughter’s husband. The neurologist suspects he may have MS which is very worrying. He’ll have further tests - we don’t know when as these things all take ages now. The symptoms came on after he had Covid badly and they thought it was nerve damage due to that.
