Up and over

Day 7: walk 6 from Pelekas to Liapedes. The last leg we’re doing and again it was varied terrain and scenery. We started immediately with descent as expected right down to sea level to Myrtiotissa Beach and then right up again past the deserted village of Drialos to Agios Georgios peak(393 m) . What goes up must come down so we descended to Kelia village and made the rookie walker mistake of following a group in front ( I blame the navigator!) After 15 minutes of climbing we realised our mistake ( no yellow paint seen for a while) and turned back to Vatos village which we should have been heading for!
We then descended into the Ropa Valley plain and walked on the flat for a couple of km before heading up to Giannedes for lunch.
As we might have guessed the post lunch time climb was tough before descending into “Olive Way”, 3km of slow descent mostly in the shade of trees. Finally we reached the outskirts of Liapedes on the west coast and headed down through the old village to the beach. We had time for a refreshing celebration drink before being picked up by taxi to come into Corfu Town. 41000 steps/17 miles
