Sound and vision
A glider, gently floating overhead, pure white against bright blue.
Down on the ground, cars, bikes, trikes, motor scooters. Laughter.
A wall. Two spires. A tower.
Live music. Further up, a DJ.
Zumba!
A national pop star diving into a portaloo.
Screaming girls. Aforementioned pop star signing up for the Tilburg Ten Miles run.
A gigantic hand (high five!), small feet, big feet.
Athletics, chess, para-basketball, tennis, squash and skateboarding. Gymnastics, midget golf, rowing. Fencing.
Pony rides in a small shopping street. A girl with a large rainbow-coloured ball. Ping-pong. Jumping the fountain.
Bows and Arrows and merry men (surely there must have been a little John somewhere in the crowds.....) Children playing judo.
A fleeting odour of piss. The smell of cigars, of dope. Chips. Fish. A strong smell of aniseed, the subtle aroma of freshly blooming magnolias. The earthy, grassy smell of fresh horse poo.
Anglo-American voices. Hirsute ZZ-Top look-alikes in black leather.
Athletes with red and green suede sneakers. Middle-aged men with orange faces, greased-back hair, shiny suits and red patent shoes.
Bright orange, turquoise, black, white, canary yellow. Multi-coloured clothing, multi-racial society.
The market. Hustle and bustle, selling of wares. Greenery. Bouquets of flowers.
Roadburn Rock Festival and the opening of National Sport Week. Here are a few more photos of the latter.
Sound and vision.
With dozens of olfactory delights thrown in for good measure.
One day.
Saturday. And a snapshot thereof.
