Beautiful Iona

It had to be an early start to drive down to the other end of Mull to Fionnphort, to catch the ferry for the short crossing . Last week the weather was so bad they couldn’t guarantee it would run all day and we didn’t want to be stranded although…..
Today was perfect weather again . We took the bikes across which was brilliant as we were able to get to both sides of te island . Lots of birders with long lenses watching for corncrakes and we definitely heard one ! Found some Bloody Cranesbill which is such a pretty flowers in the Machair at the ‘Bay at the Back of the Ocean’.
I had a wonderful relax on the rocks on this beach pictured -aptly named ‘White Beach’ . The sounds and peace were indescribable.
Coffee and lunch at the well placed Argyll Hotel and many friendly people to chat too . Iona really does have a special ‘feel’.
