Sailing to the Treshnish Isles !
We’d waited three years for this wonderful trip again and it didn’t disappoint! Perfect day with sunshine at last .
The boats were busy because it was the first day they could run the trips in a while . We sat on the top deck with a fab panoramic view of the coast as we went . First stop after Ardnamurchan was the Island of Staffa where we traditionally picnic on the hexagonal rocks on the way to Fingal’s Cave . There was excitement because the Iona boat had a problem so all it’s passengers had to be ferried across by the Staffa Tours boats.
The rest of the time (2 whole hours) was spent on Lunga which is my great joy - puffin therapy ! Once again, we were able to sit a few feet from them and observe their little ways. More were floating on the water this time possibly because it was earlier in the season and they weren’t yet feeding their young . It was lovely to see them among the bluebells and wildflowers.
It was very very slippy and precarious descending from the cliff top this time but thankfully some of the boatmen came to help.
On our return trip, a pod of bottle nose dolphins played around the bow waves and even swam under the boat . They deliberately came out to join us - wonderful creatures. A perfect day .
