FINDING GOLD
Coming across this female Black-tailed Skimmer (Orthetrum cancellatum) in the undergrowth was a real unexpected treat today and it made being stung by nettles completely worth it. I'm pretty certain I've never seen one before, though I've seen the blue and black males. In fact I was spoilt for choice of blips and feel no guilt at abandoning all pretence of doing any chores to go to Saltholme instead. I could add lots of extras but I'm already more than halfway through the annual allocation so I'll stick to one. Warning - the extra may contain disturbing scenes of extreme peril and gruesomeness involving a small rodent.
And now the sun has just come out and I may be tempted to tackle one or two of those chores.
