Looking for mum and dad

Starlings nest in the rone (roan?) pipe above the front door. The doorstep is covered in guano at this time of year but who can begrudge it. There seems to be a brood of three waiting to be fed today. Looks as if the paintwork needs some attention.

We were supposed to be going to our younger son's house today to have lunch and see the girls. Their mum is away for the weekend. This morning we heard that the three year old had been sick in the night so we called off. I feel bad as I can remember the days of looking after ill children but we really can't risk getting a bug when there's a busy week ahead. So it is a quiet day for us and that's no bad thing.

It's been damp overnight but the sun is starting to break through the clouds and it's quite pleasant outside.

I'll be cooking and gardening today to get ready for the week. Have a good Sunday.
