Bottleneck

To get to the home of our friends M and C we pass through the village of Ripley and then cross a flood plain of the River Wey. Here the river and the Wey Navigation run alongside each other so where the road crosses, there are two narrow hump back bridges controlled by traffic lights. It is very seldom that we drive straight through without being held up by the lights but it is an attractive part of the road and a pleasure to pass through. Shortly after, we see the romantic ruins of Newark Priory.
We lunched together at The Jovial Sailor pub in Ripley. It was packed on a Friday lunchtime. We all had a very good meal and vowed we will go there again.
