Posh!!

Back blip

We are staying at Wood Norton Hall, near Evesham. It’s a Grade   ll listed Victorian stately home which was initially the home of Prince Philippe, Duke of Orleans, then used by the BBC during WW11 as a station for listening to enemy radio broadcasts and an emergency broadcasting centre, before the development of the BBC’s engineering training college in the grounds of the estate. The Hall was  sold  in 2000 and converted to a privately run hotel. The beautiful interior has been preserved throughout the years and is stunning. We are staying in the converted stable block.

Today we visited Croome Court. A National Trust Property which is in need of restoration and undergoing a slow process. It has evidence of previous occupants, the Hare Krishna community for 5 years in the early 1980’s, colourful wall paintings.

There is a RAF museum in the grounds which tell the history of Defford Airfield and collaboration with the Royal Radar Establishment in Malvern, their development of radar and automatic landing.

We were exhausted by the end of the day and thoroughly enjoyed dinner and a restful evening.
