Honest, these are just a very few of the hundreds of plants Mrs Booty has ordered online, bought, borrowed and begged. None have been removed from the wild, although the temptation is vast.

The white substance on the bench is salt, the west winds deposit heaps of it on us, our cars, windows and plants so they have to be able to cope with the conditions. It may explain why I'm going rusty.

The bench and table are out of the way while the garden is being rebuilt. On the left is one of the most wonderful lavender plants. I sit beside it with my wee lads and teach them that bees are not dangerous if handled quietly and gently and you allow them to continue feeding they will sit on your fingernail for a moment which you will never forget.
