Now you've pissed off Grandma

The weather forecast was for rain followed by thunderstorm followed by rain followed by thunderstorm followed by rain. Didn't happen. We had the tiniest sprinkling, the barest touch of moisture in DC today.

It was a wonderful day. It was a terrible day. I made such a good omelette this morning that I immediately wanted another one. My neighbor and I went to DC. There is good news out of Ukraine.

I'm starting to get really pissed at people who warn other people about the safety of going to protests. Unless you're in Portland where the police have no limits, protests are safer than US schools or black neighborhood stores. Happy, strong, beautiful people everywhere, there with friends and family, everyone affirming each other. Babies. High school students. Grandparents. Elderly women in motorized wheelchairs. An incredible group of women drummers.

A racist shot 13 black people in a store in Buffalo and killed 10 of them.

Urvashi Vaid, an extraordinary woman and fighter, whose efforts made the US and the world a better place, died today.

Siemens is going to exit Russia. It is winding down its industrial operations and all industrial business activities.

Finland has decided to join NATO.

A large convoy, maybe 500-1000 vehicles, from Mariupol, reached Zaporizhzhia safely.

Dolly Parton partnered with Penguin House to donate books to 200 refugee children in London every month until they reach the age of five.

Ukraine appears to have won the battle of Kharkiv.

Ukraine's folk-rap group Kalush Orchestra won Eurovision!! Their style is unique. Their song, "Stefania," is about the frontman's mother and I love it. Many in the audience waved Ukraine's blue and yellow flag. The band got special permission to leave Ukraine to participate. According to Eurovision tradition, next year's contest will be in Ukraine. Balarus and Russia were both banned from participation. Kalush Orchestra has a distinctive style with their dance moves and wind instrument skills. They mix modern streetwear with traditional clothing. One of them, Psiuk, has a volunteer organization that coordinated transportation, medicine, and accommodations.  https://youtu.be/UiEGVYOruLk
