Big Hill

Sketches.

After spending the morning cleaning greenware and loading the bisque kiln, there was still the whole afternoon ahead of me!!!   So lunch, then a bit of a read and a nap.....then to the paint!

I've come to a point with the big painting i've been work on for the past week, where i just need to walk away from it - i was getting way to much in my head and analyzing it.   There is a place for this part of the process, but really, i'm still in the discovering stage......and it's so easy to try and figure out how to resolve it in one go!    It's also tricky moving from being a production potter to being a painter.....and i'm not very good at it still!  So the next best thing is to just deal with the paint on my palette - i hate wasting paint....and i did some 'doodles' ..... i was also attempting to keep things simple with these.   Felt good, and now i can have a look at these and see what elements i like etc.   These are done very quickly, maybe only 15-20 minutes each.   Also, the one's with the black background are still taped to the board....so you can sort of see the gestures that i made.

Another warm and gorgeous day!   almost time for a g & t!!!
