Appreciation

Of nature 's beauty. We have these beautiful birds around here called Northern flickers. They are members of the woodpecker family and entertain us with their chatter and constant drilling of holes under the eaves of our house. Pesky rather than pesty, they are a very colourful part of spring. Sadly today one flew so hard into our kitchen window that it died instantly. He was so beautiful that I took the opportunity to examine his exquisite feathers and this is a capture of the underside of his wing and I never realized they were so colourful underneath. I felt very sad as I listened to his mate calling for him all afternoon.
