Up A Hill
It’s been a while since I walked up a steep hill - West Sussex has its Downs but I don’t venture into them very often. So this afternoon’s walk up one of the Eildon Hills was especially enjoyable (and a reminder I need to do more uphill walking!). This is the view from about half way up, looking north across the Scottish Borders. Melrose is just to our left and Lauders to the north. The village we are staying in is immediately below us. The grey clouds did send some very heavy rain down onto us as we reached the bottom of the descent but fortunately we were able to shelter behind a tall hawthorn hedge while the worst of it passed.
After dinner this evening we did a circular walk into Melrose to see the town at a different time of day. It was peaceful, just a few people walking, others eating or drinking in a few pubs and restaurants.
Just off to bed to the sound of the wind gently blowing in the trees.
