Our Day

It was sunny and much warmer today but still a crisp breeze in the air. We set up our outside camping area and enjoyed lunch in the screen house with its newly installed fan/light. We didn’t need either today but it will be nice to have on the warmer days. Hubby got our bikes ready but the batteries were dead. While they charged, we went to the visitor center and walked along a trail to the choppy Potomac river. Our current weather has caused extremely high tides so there was no beach. Usually, you can search for fossilized sharks’ teeth. I left my Fitbit home on the charger but hubby says we’re close to our 10,000 steps today. As you can see, there were pretty wildflowers, elusive birds and lots of interesting trees on the trail. After lunch, I read/napped while hubby checked out potential trails for riding. Sounds like I will be satisfied to ride around the campsite road; safer for a novice on a bike that is a bit too tall. This silly squirrel and its mate came tearing past me but I was not ready to get a picture. Had to settle for a lesser shot. Our menus are designed for quick meals so we’ll have maximum free time. We’ll enjoy a campfire this evening with a glass of wine. Sure hope your day was as rewarding. I’ve heard no news. We have no tv service. Thanks for sharing our camping experience remotely. Stay safe. “I just want to live in a world of mountains, coffee, campfires, cabins, and golden trees, and run around with a camera and notebook, learning the inner workings of everything real." - Victoria Erickson
